I tell you there is a great tree within you that does not change summer or winter and its leaves do not fall. whosoever listens to my words and ascends to its crown will not taste death but know the truth of eternal life. Then he showed me a vision in which I saw a great tree that seemed to reach into the heavens and as I saw these things he said the roots of this tree are in the earth which is your body. The trunk extends upward through the five regions of humanity to the crown which is the kingdom of the spirit. – The Gospel of the Beloved Companion
The tree is a symbol for Lady Wisdom. In the garden of Eden we find the tree of life. And in the First Temple of the Judaic tradition, the tree of Asherah, Wisdom-Sophia, is in the Holy of Holies, the tower or the debir. The Hebrew word debir is derived from the word ‘to speak’ or ‘to oracle’; the tower is the place visions and oracles are received.
Mary Magdalene had a vision and she sees which shows that she sees with higher spiritual consciousness. She is the Tree of Life and she is the Tower: the one that receives the visions and she is the ‘place’ that receives the visions; she receives the oracle and she becomes the fulfillment of the oracle.
Mary Magdalene received the vision the moment she encounters the resurrected Jesus and she gains the gnosis and wisdom of the journey of ascent.
Moreover, the menorah was placed in the Holy Place of the Temple on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, where the original Tree of Life was said to have grown. An essential clue relating to the (almond) Tree of Life and the menorah is found in the earliest known name for Mount Moriah (the site of Solomon’s Temple), Luz. It was at this mysterious place called Luz (‘light’, ‘almond’) that Jacob lay his head on a stone and saw a ladder with angels on either side. He ascended this ladder to a heavenly realm. Upon his return he declared the spot of real estate (the oracle) a “blessed gate to god.” And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it” Gen. 28:13-15, 18 – Mary Migdal-Elder and the Amygdala
The tree of life stands in the high tower, the most holy place of the temple in Jerusalem. This is a sanctuary and a place outside time and space. This is where the visionary and spiritual connection with the invisible realms of light is made. This is the bridal chamber where the masculine Most High or El lives with his feminine partner Wisdom, in the tradition of Ancient Israel. When we follow through all the boughs and lights of the tree of life in the vision of Mary Magdalene, we become one with the Oneness, an Anthropos.
She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her;
those who hold her fast are called happy – Proverbs 3:18
