Feast Day of Mary Magdalene

The eyes of Mary Magdalene by bear 48 on www.deviantart.com

Traditionally, the feast day of Mary Magdalene
is celebrated by reading poetry in the Bridal Mysticism tradition.

She, who is the Beloved of the Loved One.
She who is the Lover, the Beloved and the Union.

Ode to the Beloved

Your love snakes like a fiery river

undulating through my soul

Setting alight the liquid desire within

igniting the passion for the Real

White-hot flames

Tempers the metal
Forges the steel
Honing my soul

Your love flows like a river of ecstasy

Melted ice seeps into my bones

Pooling love into the deserted plains

of my forsaken heart

Your love roars like heavenly winds

Screeching through my throat,
Howling with unearthly delight,
Sweeping me through the darkness,
Into the tunnel of light

With the touch of your fiery eyes,

the pure-white fire of your mind
with the gentlest whisper
the kindest word
With the lightest touch
of your beautiful hand
You melt the iron bars
that trap my soul

Your love breaks my cage

conquers the dragons of fear
Your love sets me free
Only to return
to the Eternal Spring

The Swan Princess

She glides gracefully on the mirror of water
Content to bask in the beauty of her own reflection
Arching her neck proudly
Arrogantly the crown glints in the light of the sun
One unto herself
She needs no-one
The waters stir
Passions churn
Turmoil
Old rotten leaves mulched into mud
Flies up, black everywhere
Water churns, splashes,
Intense waves form
In the white foam He appears
Wearing the moon on his crown

He surrounds her
Make her His
His embrace splits her being, pierces her heart
Radiant light snakes through their bodies
Conjoining them into One

Feathers splayed, wings spread
Stretching to the ends of the Sky
Necks arched
A halo of light as two crowns meet
Graceful heads bowed
Love fulfilled

The Temple of Mary Newsletter – July 2012

The Temple of Mary, Our Lady of the Dove
Newsletter
July 2012
Sri Hettienne Bhaktymayi Ma


.

Welcome to the second newsletter from the Temple of Mary, Our Lady of the Dove.

The Temple of Mary offers a temenos for communion in Bridal Mysticism, the Divine Marriage or the Yoga of Tantra.

Kundalini, Tantra the sacred weaving, the ‘Divine Marriage’ and the role of the ‘Divine Feminine’.

Tantrica, Tantra or Sacred Tantric Practice, in its purest form, describes both the process and methodologies for the resolution of all conflicts of opposites. From earliest times, the symbology used has been based on the interpenetration of what is, metaphorically, referred to as male – female. In modern terms, it is the search for non-duality.
This is the source of the corruption of the teachings because, if you read further, the metaphor covers the concept (in evolution) of the conjugate metamorphosis of Ishtar-Tamuz (Babylonian), Prajna-Vajra (Buddhist), Sophia Christos (Christianity), Isis Osiris (Egyptian), Shekinah – Ruach (Kaballistic).
The origins of Sacred Tantric practice and doctrine can be traced back at least to the “Indus Valley” civilization that was contemporary with the Sumerian and the beginnings of the Egyptian Old kingdom. The records and doctrines and practices found in archaeological digs finds parallels in ancient Hittite worship.
Tantra, as currently and popularly defined and interpreted within the concept of sacred sexual practices can be considered as a defilement of the essence of Tantra.
In Sanskrit ‘Alla’ means mother.

Throughout the annals of mythology and spirituality, the devi – Kunti – (the Yin/Shakti opposite Yang/Shiva) has taken many forms and faces; some of these are translated accurately, others are not. Many have become owned (over time) by some cannonisation, doctrine .. or set of dogmatic rules.

At the deepest and most primordial, Yin and Yang .. deva and devi are the first separation but, they are never separate. In Hindi, she is Shakti, he is Shiva
deva : d’e’v’a is the primordial masculine principle; an essence or principle, originally; ‘a bright or shining one’ from *div- to shine; the “sign” or “omen” of the energy which pervades; bestowing, producing or imparting; as with hot fire or passion from “above” (as in Heavenly); sometimes seen as a “gift” with the concept of going inward, within or in; the life in-breath; as an aspect of Brahma
devi : dh’e’v’i is the primordial feminine principle; placement or holding; potential to go beyond or transcend; consciousness potential as in “hidden” or “the inner self” with wonder, awe; the energy which pervades ; bestowing, producing or imparting; as with cold fire or passion of receptivity; that which has the potential to ‘learn’ or evolve as the essence of compassion with the power to obtain or become something else
Yoga, itself, is the UNION of the deva and the devi — masculine and feminine — Yin and Yang — Shiva and Shakti
The Tibetans go one step further; they call it Tantra – describing it as the warp and weft of the cloth as in the “sacred” weaving akin to Christianity’s “Divine Marriage” of the Heavenly Bride (Yin, the devi) and Bridegroom (Yang, the deva) .. for it is written:
Tao gave birth to One;
One gave birth to Two;
Two gave birth to Three;
Three gave birth to the ten thousand things.
The ten thousand things carry Yin and embrace Yang
The two primordial breaths blend and produce harmony.
The Tao or “The Way of All Things” is a flow, an inter-penetration, an omniscience and an omnipotence and a homeostasis of both masculine and feminine, positive and negative principles

The function of the guide (teacher/guru) on the path of Self-Realisation

A teacher is one who lives free from the idea or image of being somebody. There is only function; there’s no one who functions. It’s a loving relationship; the teacher is like a friend.
A true teacher doesn’t take him or herself for a teacher, and she doesn’t take her pupil for a pupil. When neither one takes himself to be something, there is a coming together, a oneness. And in this oneness, transmission takes place. Otherwise the teacher will remain a teacher through the pupil, and the pupil will always remain a pupil. When the image of being something is absent, one is completely in the world but not of the world; completely in society, but at the same time free from society. We are truly a creative element when we can be in society in this way – Jean Klein

If you marry a belief system, then you are bound by its contracts and laws. So choose wisely. If you choose to marry Spirit, you are bound by the laws of miracles.

It is very difficult and almost impossible, to teach using words. Words are designed to identify and separate, to label and distinguish. Philosophers have written books on the power of words and have debated as to whether they are an empowering tool or a sword. The journey to at-one-ment, or unity consciousness, or simply realising that there is only One, is one of re-integration and dissolving the boundaries and borders, including those created by words! So it is a conundrum. Teachers and gurus so often say, just trust me till you understand, but the independent mind fear such a surrender.

And surrender is indeed the key.

Surrender is a very evocative word. Immediately the lower mind conjures images of dominancy or control or tyrannical mastership by Spirit; which ironically is the goal of the search! And awakening to the Self, only comes when the seeker, either willingly, or forced by circumstances beyond his or her control, completely subjugates personal will and give up the search and the efforts at attaining oneness.
Seeking implies that you are separate or that you have lost that which you are trying to find. If you accept and believe that there is no separation, why do you seek?
Who is doing the seeking?
Thus that which is so deeply feared, is the liberator or the lucifer. The goal of the search is for the material mind to be completely dominated by the spiritual mind. And the opposite is also true. The seeker tries to dominate and subjugate the lower mind with what he or she believes is the spiritual mind, but which in fact is only the Super Ego, or the idea of the idealised self!

The ideal is to have complete dominance of the spiritual mind. In other words, the material mind is swept away so far as its stubborn resistance and opposition to the promptings of the spiritual are concerned. It implies that the body will become the willing servant, or the assistant of spirit. And this is only achievable through surrender to Spirit.
In true surrender, there is absolute acceptance : acceptance of life as it is and not your idea of what life should be like.

In true surrender, there is no effort; there is nothing to gain, and nothing to lose.
The power of studying a method such as A Course In Miracles lies in its ability to confront your ‘lower’ mind. (I use the word ‘lower’ in context to the understanding that you have a Spiritual mind and a lower/material mind. )
To see, reason and judge of life and matter in the knowledge of an all-pervading Spirit, that is the Spiritual mind.

‘once the spiritual mind awakens, nothing can stop its blossoming forth and growing into a Tree of Life’

I would like to here also point out that you have your physical senses and your subtle senses. The physical senses are in a symbiotic relationship with the lower mind and the subtle senses with the spiritual mind. Hence the expression, you will see it when you believe it!
The lower mind does not like change. It loves a routine or a pattern – that pattern may be chaotic and self-destructive, but the lower mind can be hypnotised by rhythms and cycles. The lower mind, through the physical senses, are closely linked to the body and it identifies with the body. In fact, it believes that the body is its sole existence.

There is no separation between the senses, that is the physical and subtle senses, and what they perceive, but it is determined by the lens that you choose to look through.

spiritual mind teaches that this life is about joy, pleasure and enjoyment’

Because the lower mind does not like change and it does not like being challenged, it creates a wonderful cocoon of security and comfort for itself, with you as its number one prisoner. The lower mind is often compared to a spider creating its sticky web within which to contain its prisoner as food. The lower mind is ‘sticky’ in its attachments. It creates many rules and laws and by-laws and it projects these onto others and onto yourself.

The web is infinite and the mind infinitely creative. It continues to spin the stories in order to keep itself and its world view safe. When you engage with this sticky web, you become entangled and you become attached.
A tool such as A Course in Miracles, confront the ideas of the lower mind. It offers a marriage of the opposites and a collapse of the lower mind as it eventually turns on itself. It is important to remember that, in its own words, the Course deals with psychological principles and that psychology is really the lay of the land in the mind, so to speak. Spirit and the Real is beyond the mind.
While it seemingly provides a ‘path’, it simultaneously shows you the Real beyond time and space, and thus the premise that this is a pathless path.
Self-realisation is instantaneous (although the unfolding afterwards can take years) and therefore it would seem to be easiest just to practice surrender and detachment. However, there is merit in coaxing the mind to surrender bit by bit, until it is ready to let go of its grasping.
ACIM has been compared to Zen teachings, Advaita Hinduism, Tantra and Christian Mysticism.

What you are fundamentally is a natural giving up. The mind becomes clear, there is a giving up, a stillness, fulfilled with a current of love. As long as there is a meditator, there’s no meditation. When the meditator disappears, there is meditation.

Chapel of the Miraculous Medal ….. while in Paris

A hot steamy day in Paris,
a cooling breeze dancing in the tree outside my balcony.
A unique city with inhabitants who do not apologize
for anything and who has no regard for socially polite behavior or attitude.
Quite a challenge to the mind in the beginning until
you realize it affords you freedom from certain behavior.
Then the question arises, which morality is engendered by society in human behavior
and which are inherent.
This question is even more prominent when
we visit the beautiful cathedrals of Paris.
At each and every one of them tourists are turned
away because of wearing shorts,
short skirts and sleeveless shirts.
The latter included cotton shirts, covering up to the neck,
but lacking sleeves!
Which part of the body is offensive to whom and why?
I wonder whether it is offensive to the Divine that tourists,
carrying their backpacks, are taking the time to
integrate the spiritual with the secular?
Is it not the nature of life that these
 two cannot be separated?
But then, of course, the church is
an institution and it has it’s own backpack
to contend with. It took me a while to
learn to look past bureaucracy and dogma
and to not let these exclude me from experiencing
the Light upon which most cathedrals and Other beautiful gifts are built.
One such gift is the miraculous medal.
A young nun at the Daughters of Charity Chapel
received a visitation from divine Mary.
In more than one visitation she received the image
and instruction about the miraculous medal.
Mary made it clear that this medal can be worn by
anyone and everyone, regardless of religion.
The only requisite was faith in ‘when you ask, you will receive’.
The chapel is tucked away in a busy street
across from a large departmental store.
The nuns scrutinize all visitors and the
tiny gift shop is spartan and does
not use electronic means of payment;
each sale is written down by hand.
The chapel is incredibly beautiful, and as soon as you enter you feel the incredible Presence. Soon the images seen by my eyes disappear and only a brilliant golden light is visible. The light has a silver rim to it and it is alive and palpable with wisdom and knowledge which cannot be translated into words.
This is the Presence of Divine Mary.
The light translates into my physical body and energetically there is
deep movement in and through my body.
Then my heart fills with a feeling that seems physical.
Everything and everyone around me is bathed in this beautiful light and they all glow in love.
The Light becomes stronger and more powerful and I see the intense
Light at the centre of it all and also at the centre of each and every person.
And the quality of this Light is Good and only Good – pure and beautiful and innocent!
And it does not matter what happens on the exterior : nothing can
corrupt or diminish that Light which is you and me.
 Blessings from Paris

The nature of the guru relationship

Guru buddhyaat mano naanyat, satyam satyam
na samshayaha;  Tallaa bhaartham prayat nastu,
kartavyo hi manishibhibhi.

The Guru is the same as the Self, the same, as Consciousness
itself.  This is the truth.  This is the absolute truth.  Those who
seek wisdom should make every effort to find their guru.

an extract from the Guru  G ita.

The Guru-disciple or sisya relationship today is often regarded, by Westerners as an out-dated
relic carried over from an unsophisticated and superstitious East.
When regarded from a purely intellectual point of view, it can be related to
the psychologist-patient relationship and the relationship of transference, but is
so much more subtle and powerful than that.

–0–

The word guru is composed of two sacred syllables.
Gu which represents the darkness and
ru, which represents light.  Gu is maya and ru is
the destruction of maya.  Gu is the state which is beyond
the three gunas and ru is emptiness.  The guru is he
who gives the experience of darkness melting into light,
maya, dissolving into clarity and formation revealing wisdom.

0–

When the topic arises, I am often met with ‘why would you want to give
your power away to someone else?’ and ‘we do not need a guru, we have everything
we need within ourselves.’

Both these statements are based on cliches and sound very ‘true’ and yes, on a certain
level they are both true.  But they also display a sense of ignorance to what a relationship
with a guru entails.  Our Western conditioning and culture (and some would argue that
this is not Western, but American) teaches us from a young age that the individual is the centre
of the universe.  And the Jungian term ‘individuation’ is also often interpreted from that
point of view.  Whereas spirituality teaches that the One is All and All is One and that
we are all inter-related and that the One is guiding you on your life journey and that it is
Thy Will and not my will.

The most evident characteristics of those who have made the transition to the inner world,
are usually a great sense of peace and of being ‘at rest’.  But if you observe their lives, you
will notice that they still face their daily challenges and that their lives are not always
filled with worldly peace and abundance.  But the peace that comes from within
transcends any worldly obstacle, challenge or personal desire.

When one has travelled a certain distance into the personal sacred landscape within, a few lessons have
been learnt.  These are Acceptance, Allowing, Forgiveness and Surrender.

None of these contain personal will or desire.
All of these imply great trust and faith.
All of these imply a deep sense of being safe and taken care of.

–0–

O, Goddess,
the dedication of one’s life to the Guru
is extraordinary.  Everything is affected by this devotion –
the devotee’s mother, father, family and ancestry
are all blessed.
Even the earth itself rejoices.

–0–

For a Westerner conditioned to believe in a formless God, it is very
difficult to learn to surrender.  The many voices within vie for kingship and the
upper hand.  The Trickster disguises itself as a divine being, and indeed,
the ‘gods’ of the mythical soul journey rules the kingdom within.

The Guru Gita states that personal guru is a personification of the Divine Guru.
The challenges and blows in life does not manifest in a disembodied form, out of the sky, like a
lightning bolt.  Although it at times seems like it, it is always a very personal and
intimate event.  You feel it in your deepest self and one strives to defend and protect
this deepest intimacy – both from others, from God and from life.

Being in a personal relationship of trust, opens the heart and helps
you lower the defenses.  This can be in any personal relationship of trust as all
relationships are indeed ‘spiritual’, in other words there is no separation between
the mundane and the profane.

A guru relationship, however, goes much deeper than this.  The personal
guru is indeed a metaphor for the Guru Within,  Everything experienced
in the energy field of the personal guru is regarded as a metaphor
for the journey into deeper intimacy into the Self.

Surrendering to the personal Guru facilitates surrender to the Self.

There are many paths to awakening to that which is truly beyond the senses
and that which cannot be shared by anyone in any form whatsoever.
In my personal experience I know the path of kundalini awakening
and the personal guru, to be a direct and powerful path.

–0–

The guru is beyond any description whatsoever. No
imputed terms can describe him. Thus, the Vedas say
‘neti neti’ – he is not this, he is not that.  Contemplate
this great mystery and continually worship him with
both mind and speech.

One can only ‘know’ the full meaning of a relationship with a
personal guru, when one has directly experienced the boon.

I am far as well as near.
I am inside everything and outside everything all at once.
I am beyond cause and effect.

Shopping in the spiritual supermarket plays in the hands of the Trickster Self!

There are many stories and myths telling us that the jewel that we have searched for all of our lives, are buried in our own backyard.  This of course, is applicable to many levels of interpretation and to many areas of our lives.

I have shared many posts with my readers on http://shaman-shewhoknows.blogspot.com about how far and wide my search has taken me to find the healing for myself and others who were born and raised in the Western culture and Judeo-Christian traditions.

My seeking took me to more than one teacher in the East and training in  spiritual paths of the Hindu traditions.  In his book Cutting through Spiritual Materialism, Chogyam Trungpa writes about how Westerners adopt Eastern traditions without understanding them.  Other Buddhist teachers have also spoken out against the Western ‘supermarket mentality’, referring to our need for quick and easy solutions.

When I started working with a Guru in the Hindu tradition, I was dismayed at his lack of understanding of our Western psyche;  of the wounding that women and men carry from such a patriarchal society and the soul wounding due to the materialism in our society and worldview.

My emphasis has always been on a psycho-spiritual approach, believing that the application of spiritual practises will not alleviate nor heal personal wounding and pathology.  In Many of the Eastern traditions there are no psycho-spiritual approach.  In my own personal experience, I was instructed to forget about all things of the mind and that all pathology will disappear when spiritual practise is faithfully applied. In many of the Hindu traditions there are no terminology for the diseases of the soul that exist in the Western world and the path to enlightenment is seen as a path without any reference to the process or how to process or integrate the changes that the practices of the spiritual path will incur.  I witnessed many Westerners trying to stay afloat in this mindset and being washed ashore with a deep sense of inadequacy and ‘not being good enough’ to be acceptable to the Divine.

Many Westerners seek out spiritual traditions in order to find a solution to their psychological pathology and wounding.  Some  of them have never developed a strong personal self-identity and ego.  In the spiritual world, the ego is seen as the Devil itself, but one needs a strong sense of self and therefore a strong ego with good boundaries, before the process of surrender to Spirit can start.

When there is no self-identity and strong sense of self in the world, then the seeker is vulnerable to self-destruction, being taken advantage of and to other forms of abuse at the hand of those self-same spiritual Gurus and teachers.  Many have served Gurus and spiritual and religious leaders slavishly, because self-sacrifice and service to others have been idealised as spiritual idols.  One who is suffering from the pathology of low self-esteem very easily becomes enslaved to victim-consciousness in this scenario, as the Shadow Self is covered over by the veneer of spirituality.

‘Spiritual’ solutions can often be applied as a form of self-denial and escapism.  It is often evident how we can distort and change the true meaning of spiritual or religious doctrine to justify our own pathology and neurosis. The human mind has an incredible capacity for self-deception and it takes a mature and brave heart to see the self-deception and inner darkness (Shadow) with awareness, to accept self-responsibility in humility and in compassion for the self and to surrender to the transformation process and to stay in Wisdom  of the True Self, through all of the above!!

In my post    http://shaman-shewhoknows.blogspot.com/2010/07/how-many-seeds-of-sacred-pomegranate.html  I say that :      In order to know our authentic selves, it is necessary to spend a certain amount of time in darkness in our own underworld. During these times of trial and difficulty, we will be taken into a deep sleep-like state, such as told in the stories of Psyche and Sleeping Beauty. Those for whom the task has been too gruelling, may lose heart or fall into despair and self-blame during these dark times. Learning from personal experience is often painful, self-revelatory and embarassing; it may initially feel like an admission of failure to face the reality of a relationship founded upon projection or to discover that what you thought was one of your personal attributes was in fact non-existent. These are just some of the many masks worn by the inner daimon.

The inner daimon is indeed the Angel of the Dark Self or the Shadow.  This unwanted, much feared and despised dark aspect of the self, is indeed an angel in disguise.  It challenges you and tempts you and as you dare to be honest with yourself and you face your darkest self, you pass through the flames of initiation.  In my piece on Maria, the Alchemist, at  http://shaman-shewhoknows.blogspot.com/2011/05/soul-story-alchemical-journey.htm  I state that denial will appear very tempting and so will escapism, but it is to stay focused and aware, without self-rejection and self-blame or punishment. It is to dig deep into your heart and allow yourself to find the memories of where this pain originated from. It is the time to use the darkness to kindle the fire of burning off the shadows within.
The sense of identity in the West is very different from that in the East. This does not mean that these paths and traditions are exclusive to certain traditions and cultures only, but it does mean that one has to deeply entrench yourself into a spiritual tradtion and path in order to truly understand its nuances and the context of the ego-identity that it serves.

Through all my travels and travails, Mary the Blessed Mother, has stayed a constant in my life.  She whom is mother, sister, lover and Beloved, She who receives the Shekinah,  conceives from the Holy Spirit (the Sophia), and who births the Self-begotten One (the Radiant Sun), She who is the divine human and the blueprint of the individuated self .
She guides the Western mind through the process of Alchemy and extracting the golden elixer from matter;  Her iconography and metaphor, the original and full version, not the censored and abbreviated version, supports and guides the wounded self through the maze of the Trickster, the Sacred Prostitute, the Saviour Self and the ascension into a wider understanding and Wisdom.
Hail Mary!

The Temple of Mary

Blessings to you!

Many are speaking of really feeling the changes in and around them and veils are opening.  Always always surrender to the process and to the love of the Divine Mother and keep a watch on that internal dialogue.  It is such a small step, but it has such great effects in your life.  When the critical mind is switched off, you can get a glimpse of the peace which is you and your true nature!

It has been a time of great opening in my own life.  I have written many articles on the significance of the dove in my life on my other blogs, particularly on http://pathofdivinelove.blogspot.com.  The past two months the Dove (Shekinah, Holy Spirit) has made herself known in many extraordinary ways.  In the one case, a beautiful red-colored dove landed on my head (in my garden) and there she sat.

It was rather strange and funny and incredibly powerful at the same time!!  I had tears streaming down my face while my daughter stared at me and the dove in amazement.  And she would not leave.  My daughter took a very poor photograph of it on her camera and I will post it soon.  A few weeks later, a dove flew into my art studio – this in itself is not strange, but what happened next, is.  The dove chased my cat out!

I took all of these signs very seriously and decided that She wants me to move out of my haitus and bring Her and Her energy into the world so that many can drink from Her eternal waters of Love and Compassion.

So, The Temple of Mary is starting a ‘new’ year of initiations and training into the path of Bridal Mysticism and Bhakty Yoga.  I am in the process of putting up a new website :  http://www.shekinahdove.org.  Have a look and check back regularly for updates.

Here you will find an outline of the trainings and events and also links to blogs, bibliography and more. If you are in the Cape Town area (South Africa) and you would like to become an initiate of The Temple of Mary, please read the articles on this blog, The Book of Mary and especially the Messages received from Mary as these form the foundation of the teachings.

It is very important to be familiar with the Silent Heart and Sacred Heart meditations.  If you follow this link http://bookofmarysacredheart.blogspot.com/2011/09/blue-cloak-of-protection-from-divine.html you can read how to receive the Blue Cloak of Protection directly from Her.

Here is the link on how to receive the Silent Heart Diksha http://bookofmarysacredheart.blogspot.com/2011/09/silent-heart-diksha.html.  Follow up every day with the Silent Heart meditation and from there you can move to the Sacred heart meditation.  All of these will be expanded on and followed up with other blessings such as the Christ Consciousness Diksha, the Mother Flame blessing (Shaktypat) during retreats.

Apply this every day and experience the difference for yourself.  We do not learn through reading and watching :  we BECOME through application and practise.

The Temple of Mary will also be hosting Sacred Feminine Conference and Festivals and a Goddess Festival in October 2012 and 2013.  To stay updated with these, follow my blog http://goddessfestivalsa.blogspot.com and Like Us on Facebook!  That way you will stay in touch.

Love is the Heart of the Matter

The word LOVE has so many meanings, so many connotations.  In Greek there are eight different words for love, but in English we are impoverished as we have only one word.  Love means forgiveness, unconditional love, letting go, surrender, divine love and acceptance.

Love can be regarded as a Trinity (as in the Father religions and thoughts of thinking) and as the Triple Goddess (in the Mother religions and thoughts of thinking).

This material world is a world of matter (mater/mother) which is being projected from our inner psyche or Spirit (father in heaven – higher mind).  At all times we are both Observer (Higher Mind/Father God), the One being Observed (spirit in matter or Mother) and the Observer.  In Sacred Geometry this is depicted as the Vesica Piscis.  The process in which the One plus One merges and forms the third, the Vesica Pisces.

This third shape can be recognized as the shape of amongst other things, the fish, (the word means the bladder of fish in Latin) (and it is also referred to as the Mandorla), the universal symbol of the Age of Pisces and also Jesus, the Christ.
In these image of Isis and Horus and Mary and Jesus, the three are present.  The father is not visible, but is present by implication, and the Mother and Christ is present.

This is indeed the image of the Self-begotten human being who evolves into Love and the loving action of forgiveness and compassion for self and others.  It is also the third, the principle of Unity Consciousness and Advaita or that which is not limited by the duality of the two, nor polarises into either Spirit or Matter, but that which unites and thereby creates a third principle, Love and only Love;  Or in the yogic-tantric traditions of India : facets of a single, non-dual awareness-self. In kundalini yogic terms it is the union of Will (Shakty-kundalini) with Knowledge (Prana-kundalini) giving birth to Action (Para-kundalini).

Here is a lovely extract from the website :  www.blueprint4creation.com that explains the image of the Vesica Pisces and the Holy Trinity very eloquently in terms of Sacred Geometry.

As you can see, when 2 join, a 3rd space is created, but what is miraculous about this form is that it creates the mathematical foundations, or ratios, for the geometry of light, manifestation and procreation, otherwise known as the square roots of 3, 2 and 5 respectively.

The two circles represent two polar opposites, and in this sense, one circle defines the female or receptive aspect of consciousness while the other circle symbolises the male or expressive aspect of consciousness. The Vesica Piscis is the space that joins the 2 to birth the 3rd, the joining of female and male energy to create a new form. And within this oval form between the two circles, is found the mathematical ratio that creates the synergy of magnetic (female) and electrical energy (male) that actually creates the electromagnetic spectrum, or LIGHT itself. Is it any wonder then, that the Vesica Piscis is exactly the shape of the EYE? After all, it is the window through which we can view light and the reflection of creation.

This is the image of reflection. It is also the image of the creator, “God”, and it is said we are created in that image. The word man, although apparently genderised, comes from the Sanskrit word, Mannas which translates as “the consciousness that can reflect upon itself”. We need light to see, feel, hear a reflection. Numerology expresses the vibratory power of words and language, and fascinatingly, the word LIGHT adds up to 11!

So with 11 we have the joining of two 1’s that leads us to 2. 1 is a circle, and when we join two circles, we have the image of light, and actually create the vibration of 3, or the trinity. The holiness about the trinity is that when this step of unfoldment is reached, there is no going back, the creative force has been unleashed and set in motion, the geometric blueprints have been identified and the birth of creation has begun. And this translates to us directly and physically as well; at the point of conception, the male and female cells join and pass through the image of the Vesica Piscis to begin the process of cell division.

The revelation of the Holy Trinity is what lies behind the mysticism of the 3. All creation stories across the religious and scientific divides, begin with the source of ALL-THAT-IS existing as a point (or a circle) beyond time and space within a void where nothing else exists, not even light. Then, creation begins by consciousness’ desire to know itself experientially. This desire-awareness created a movement, a vibrational thought-form that divided the God self into 2. To know itself, it had to see itself for what is, and to see is to gaze upon a REFLECTION of itself. Reflection is the mirroring of light, and this is what is depicted in the geometry of the Vesica Piscis, the holographic mirroring of reality. 11 represents the creation and reflection of Light, and reveals to us what we are, light-beings who are reflections of the creator looking back upon itself throughout the whole of creation.

So back to the daily here and now.  The first step towards accessing the Sacred Heart of the Universe, where all is One and beyond the duality of good and bad, is sacred awareness.  The second step is acceptance.  (If you would like to learn more about these concepts, please read my other articles on this blog and also on http://shaman-shewhoknows.blogspot.com on awareness and acceptance and also Alchemy of the Heart).

And implicit in Acceptance is Forgiveness.  And before one can contemplate the possibility of becoming one with all that is and accept that everything is divine and love and only love, one needs to become forgiveness or prema (in Hindu terminology).

Forgiveness is such a loaded word – it evokes great resistance, especially in us who have lived in a patriarchal society.  Forgiveness evokes memories of being told that you are born in sin and that you have to beseech the Patriarchal Father for eternal forgiveness.

And this is what we often see in many of the images and statues of Mary.  But Mary is indeed the triple Mary.  She is Mary the Mother, Mary Magdalene, lover and consort and Mary-Sophia, wisdom  and in all three of the Triple Mary or the Triple Goddess are implicit and present the Holy Trinity.

This morning, Mary, Blessed Woman, has a message for us.  She says that Forgiveness is the Heart of the Matter. And understanding that forgiveness has been labeled and conceptualised by our wonderful intellect, She sets out explaining what She means by ‘forgiveness’.

Many are the stories that you live and share.  At the heart of these stories are always the feelings;  the feelings of the heart.  These may be sadness, anger, joy, happiness and suffering.  Suffering are the most difficult part of the story to alchemize in the sacred heart. Often the pain is so intense and so all-encompassing that the heart closes down and the mind does not want to open the doors to the oven.  But in order to ‘eat’ or ingest the suffering and the pain in your story, one has to cook it first before it is edible or maybe even tasty!

And there is only one way and that is through forgiveness.  When I use the word forgiveness I see that it immediately evokes the picture of a penitent self, born in sin, crawling on knees to ask the archetypal father’s forgiveness – for something that you do not believe that you deserved to feel, or that your actions could possibly have evoked such cruel selfishness and heartlessness from another?

But that is not true forgiveness.  True forgiveness will descend like a dove from the heaven and enter your heart and it will be as though none of that suffering ever happened.  But how to get there?  Through the triple goddess of hope, faith and charity.

Through the simple act of finding hope : in the beautiful colour of a flower;  in the image of the rainbow;  in the smile of another.

The simple act of faith :  you do not need to understand concepts or intellectual thinking or which path is the right path.  Faith like a child will inherit the heavens.  Faith that you are created in Love;  you are a reflection of Love on this earth and that your very being is Love.

And charity to yourself, first and foremost.  Charitable thoughts to yourself and your own struggles and resistances and efforts to love.  Learn to love yourself;  accept yourself as you are right now, in this very moment.  Accept that your imperfections are part of the perfect design and that by implication, you are perfect in love.

Then, smile inwardly or outwardly, put down all the feelings of heavy heartedness and step out, trusting that peace will find you and forgiveness will settle in your heart.  Forgiveness for all that still lies behind the veil of the human mind.

And do something kind and loving for yourself today.  Give yourself what you need today.  The rest will follow.

Hail Mary.

The Mater Dolorosa, the Unruined Heart

Mater Dolorosa. The Unruined Heart.
The swords through your heart are not the ones that caused your wounds, but rather, these swords of strength were earned by your struggle through hard times.
Sword of Surrender is one of the swords. It means the sword to use to withstand this time of learning. Isn’t it true sometimes that learning is really painful, or really hard?
The second, Sword of Veils, pierces the hidden meaning of this time to cut right through all the fog, all the veiling that occludes the center, the core, the sweetness, the heart, the hope, the jewel at the center of the wound.
The third sword, a Sword of Healing, to lance open one’s own agony and bitterness to let it drain away.
The Sword of New Life to cut through, to cut loose, and to plant anew. Long ago, people used their swords to plant with. They would drive them into the ground, pour the seed, take a step, drive the sword into the ground, plant a seed, take a step. Because there used to be farmer warriors who were holy people and they used their swords for everything.
Sword of Courage is the next one: to speak up, to row on with, to touch others with. Remember to be knighted, a king would touch the sword to the shoulder of the knight: meaning you can take this blow. You can take this. You are strong.
The Sword of Life Force to draw from, to lean on, to purify.
The Sword of Love is often the heaviest to lift consistently. The sword turns one away from war, resentment, retaliation, and instead helps one to fall into the arms of immaculate strength at the center through the Holy Woman.
So we pray.
Oh immaculate heart of my mother, give me shelter in the beautiful chambers of your heart. Keep me strong, fierce, loving, and able in this world. Remind me. Remind me daily that despite my imperfections, my heart remains completely unruined. So may it be for you. So may it be for me. So may it be for all of us. In her name, amen,—which means “let it be so.”
